TOOLS REQUIRED:
- Aeropress
- Aeropress paper filters
- Kettle
- Gram Scale
- Spoon
- Timer
- Coffee mug or Decanter
Pull the plunger (top part) till the rubber is inline with the #4 on the brew chamber (bottom part).
Remove the paper filter screw cap at the bottom of the brew chamber.
Put the paper filter into the screw cap.
Rinse the paper filter with hot water.
Discard rinse water.
Stand up onto the counter plunger side down.
Weigh out 15 grams of coffee beans.
Grind fine as you would for an espresso (texture of table salt)
Add ground coffee to Aeropress.
Place on gram scale and Tare to zero
Start a timer for 1:30 min
Pour 200 grams of hot water directly off the boil on to the coffee bed. Try to fully saturate the coffee bed with no dry spots.
Give it a quick stir.
Put the circular paper filter screw cap onto the top of the brew chamber.
Tighten screw cap
When the timer has finished turn over the brewer mounting your pre-heated cup or decanter and steadily press down on the plunger.
Serve and enjoy.
The Aeropress method of brewing tries to mimic espresso brewing so we recommend using an espresso grind from a burr grinder.
If you are not using a scale fill the aeropress to the #1 marking on the brew chamber.
