WE WERE SO HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN PART OF THIS WORTHY CAUSE! Supporting Ocean Acres and the Barbados Ruffugee project by sponsoring Pinto to get him to his new home in Canada.
The Covid pandemic has resulted in financial hardship for pet owners. There has been a significant increase in pet surrenders, abandonment and neglect. rescue shelters, are full to capacity and are struggling to cope. The Ruffugee Project, The Barbados Freedom Flight was a one-off emergency crisis appeal to fly 200 rescue dogs from Barbados to Canada, working in partnership with Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue (EOPR) Projects such as these are vital to ensure shelters in Barbados can manage the overwhelming problem of abandonment and stray animals. There are not enough homes to place these pups and these flights are an important part of providing essential help in managing the scale of the problem. While doing so, we are able to create awareness and raise funds to continue further work to improve the situation, reduce the levels of strays and population and ultimately prevent suffering.
