Wyndhams Bajan Coffee Roasters has won at Great Taste three years in a row!
Great Taste, the world’s most trusted food and drink awards, has awarded Wyndhams (4) 2-star awards in 2022.
The culmination of winning in 2020, 2021 and 2022 bring the total to thirteen (13) awards to the Barbados based Specialty coffee roaster.
Adding to the awards of 2022, Wyndhams now has the distinction of being a “Great Taste Producer” which is only given to those with a proven track record of winning Great Taste consistently.
The winning coffees this year are Cane Dog Espresso, Organic Cane Dog Espresso, and the unique single origin coffees Guatemala Antigua and Ethiopia Wush Wush from their Progressive, Rare and Limited line.

Cane Dog Espresso Blend - 2 Stars
Judges comments: There's a great depth of flavour on this espresso with powerful chocolate notes and a pithy bitterness. A smooth, but heavy coffee that delivers a very satisfying finish.
Cane Dog Organic Espresso Blend - 2 Stars
Judges comments: Lovely bright opening and very creamy, silky mouthfeel. A gentle, approachable espresso that does display a sweet almond characteristic. There's a buttery note that comes through really well with milk. Very good.
Guatemala Antigua - 2 Stars
Judges comments: A very enticing aroma of sweet caramel, subtle smoke, slightly woody. A deeply rich and rounded flavoured coffee - with lots of nutty character, almost burnt sugar notes and a lovely clean, bitter finish. A complex coffee with a very satisfying, balanced mouthfeel and exceptional roasted character.
Ethiopia Wush Wush - 2 Stars
Judges comments: How exciting! From smelling the beans and finding so many notes in them, the rose note was king. Roses elegantly burst into our taste buds when tasting and the coffee was fruity and delicious. A complex coffee but full of notes that sing from the same hymn sheet.

Wow! Thirteen (13) awards now. The team is killing it and there’s so much more to come. Again, I’m excited about winning 2-stars each for our Cane Dog blends. They are a creation of our tastes and the judges have confirmed it, we have Great Taste!

I am super happy to have won 3 years in a row! For me, this proves we are undeniably consistent, quality and know our coffee! Topping the win off with an official title of " Great Taste Producer” means we can wave our flag, knowing we are the first Bajan company to have achieved this in any category.
On a personal note, I’m very proud that we won for both of our Cane Dog espressos, since this was my ‘pet project’ as a dog-lover, it is wonderful to be able to do good for animal welfare in Barbados, but also taste great at the same time!

CANE DOG is the first socially conscious product by Wyndhams where it was created specifically to raise funds to help end animal cruelty in Barbados. 10% of all proceeds from the sale of Cane Dog products are donated to Bajan animal welfare organizations.
Created by Managing Director, Amanda Wyndham-Gittens; Cane Dog launched in mid 2021 and has raised close to BBD$10,000 which has been donated to the Ocean Acres animal shelter to find forever homes for stray and abandoned animals in Barbados.

The Progressive, Rare and Limited series are single origin coffees that showcase unique and complex flavours. Each coffee is sourced from producers and farmers that are pushing the flavour boundaries of coffee utilizing experimental fermentations, coffee varietals or are micro-lots of outstanding quality.

What is Great Taste?
Great Taste was founded in 1994 and is organised by the Guild of Fine Food in the UK. Every year, each entry is blind-tasted by a team of judges who are dedicated to finding the most exquisite tasting food and drink regardless of branding or packaging.
What are Great Taste judges looking for?
They judge the quality of ingredients used, they’re looking for great texture and appearance but most importantly they are looking for truly great taste.
